Dreaming is like being in another world. A new world or maybe a place you have been before. It ís a place where imaginations sore and where things can be learned, experienced, created, felt and resolved. It ís a new language to learn, speak and understand.
When we can learn to connect to how our dreams make us feel and learn the symbolism of our dreams, then we can begin to understand and connect to the meaning of our dreams.
Are you creating something new in your dream?
Are you resolving something old in your dream?
Are you remembering something forgotten in your dream?
Are you processing something that happened to you or something you saw during your waking day?
Are you visiting the past or maybe the future?
Are you being visited by a spirit or passed loved one?
Are you experiencing someone else's feelings?
Are you receiving a message for your self or another?
Are you learning how to create or fix something?
Did you wake up with a song?
Questions to ask about the dream
How does this dream make you feel?
Connect to the feeling of the dream when you wake up. Did you wake up happy, sad, confused?
Did you see something in the dream that really stands out? Did you see a person? A color? An object? Ask your self , how does that 'something' make you feel? What does it make you think of?
Example:
I have a baby that shows up a lot in my dreams. When I think of a baby I think of someone who needs to be taken care of. So the baby to me symbolizes a need that needs to be taken care of.
An ex shows up in my dreams. When I think of an ex I think of someone that I was in a relationship with. So an ex to me symbolizes a relationship of some sort.
I am seeing a body of water? What does the water look like? How does the water make you feel? In my dreams water represents emotion. If I see calm, peaceful water that is the emotion associated with the dream. If I am sinking in the water, I am feeling overwhelmed by something.
Did you die or maybe where killed? How did that make you feel? To me a death means the ending of something and the beginning of something new. So if I am killed in a dream it is the ending or the completion of something.
Where you visited by a passed loved one? Spirits often visit us in our dreams because this is a way they can connect to us? They can have a message for our selves or maybe someone else.
Example: My step dad who has passed shows up in my dreams. He kisses me on my cheek. When he kisses me I think of my mother and I begin to cry. When I wake up from the dream I call my mom to check on her to see if anything is bothering her. I tell her about my dream. She lets me know that she has been thinking about my step dad and has been missing him.
Ask lots of questions. What do each of these things/aspects in your dream make you think of? How do they make you feel? Then think about the things going on in your conscious life, think about the people and events that you have engaged in and see if what you dreamt about could be related to any of those things.
